[Patent] 1792 Dec. 12 granted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to William Bingham for a tract of land called West Minister in Northumberland County. n.d.

Bears the signature of Governor Thomas Mifflin. Warrant No. 2279 for 1100 acres of land. On the reverse is a statement signed by Bingham dated 1795 Jan. 31 selling the property to attorneys Robert Morris and John Nicholson.

John Nicholson came to Queensland in 1864 and purchased a property which was named "Grovely", and built "Grovely House". A proposal to build the church was raised in 1866, and work began in 1867. The foundation stone was laid by Sir George Bowen on 23 September 1867. The plan of the church was drawn by Charles Tiffin, Colonial Architect, and the church opened for services in February 1869.
